Day 3...
PJ finished up with XC in his first novice. Because of the rain the day before and the lack of stud holes the XC round was a bit of a combination of XC and surfing. The good thing is it's hard for the horses to stop when they have little grip :)...but he jumped well and finished up clear and we won the tie being closer to the ideal time.
Other notes from Va...my mom finished up 4th after an unfortunate rail in SJ that could have given her the win in training. Sinead did win her training division however...so all was good in the end.
This week coming up...I'm heading over to Anne Kursinski's to ride on Tuesday, and we have a schooling dressage show on wed. Running Order and Tali are going to have a little down time for the next week or so. The babies are headed to Plantation in 2 weeks and Seneca in 3.

Day 2...
Running Order was very good...I let him cruise around so we had a few time penalties. It was a very good course for him to see, esp the island bounce back into water. He handled it all very well.
Frolic is doing his first prelim. He got a 33 dressage. I personally hate the prelim B test they have counter canter across the short side, which in a small ring gets pretty damn tight quickly. Compounding this is that Frolic's changes are great...cc not so much. So long story short I was very happy didn't have any inadvertent changes. We then went off to XC...he's generally a little spooky, today was no different. The good part is I felt as if he were just being careful always going. He jumped around clean with a few time and is sitting in 6th.
PJ is doing his first novice. Dressage was up on the hill and he was a bit nervous. Still came away with a 32. I really wasn't sure how he'd handle the coliseum, he really didn't seem to mind. Jumped clean in a difficult sj and is in 4th.
Tomorrow:
Frolic SJ
PJ XC

Day #1 at Jersey CCI**
Following the meeting we had the first formal inspection. Leroy was sound and ready to fight! We also got times. I'll be doing dressage at 2:20 tomorrow. I also was able to get a 1st walk in of the XC course. It looks great! They've made a lot of changes, and it appears as if it'll flow much better than in years past.
Tomorrow will start off in search of food!...then walking XC for a second time. I will then review the test etc..and get ready to get the ball rolling. Following dressage I'll do a final walk of the XC and hope for the best!

MCTA
In any case, it was Elvis' first and if you had told me 2 years ago when he came to me that we'd be at this point I'd ask what you were smoking. I was also coming into this weekend wondering, he's a freak of nature as far as his physical talents, but his consistent attention has been evasive. I think he'd be a great candidate for equine ridalin. Did I mention that I love this horse?...I do.
So my reservations came after FHI of 2 weeks ago. He jumped around clean without a problem, but he was not exactly attentive. At home this is solved by putting the jumps up 4 holes or so. That tends to sober him up. I was hoping the same was true of XC. Again, one of those things...you move up, and you just have to see how it goes. Long story short, dressage was good. Still room for improvement, I'd guess years down the road we could knock another 5-10 pts off the 30 we got this weekend. To my surprise we were winning after dressage. SJ was next, he jumped clean and very well. Off to XC...I have to say it was just about the best round I've had in my life. They were big enough that they got his attention and I could ride up to them without interfering. I really couldn't have asked for more. Sure there is still room to improve, without a doubt, but he was great! So we finished adding 9.2 time and winning by 21+ pts!! I certainly wouldn't expect similar results in the events to come, but hey...take it when you can get it!
As for the others, Tali was a bit distracted in dressage. Came away with a 33, had 1 rail, but jumped around XC much better than 2 weeks ago. It's very cool to see him growing up before our eyes. He's going to be a class horse in a few years time. Frolic was good this weekend. He's defiantly ready for his prelim debut. He got a 30 in dressage, 1 rail and jumped clear on XC. He should be in 5th...still working on a clerical error in scoring. Leroy was also very good this weekend. Only did a combined test with the Jersey Fresh CCI** next week. He got a 26 in dressage and jumped clear in SJ.
Check back for Jersey updates next week...Jogs are on Thursday dress on Friday.
